EXTRA! EXTRA!

Today’s media relations highlight is the daily press clips.  The daily press clips are something that every baseball media relations intern has to compile first thing in the morning, every day.  The press clips are a collection of all team related news stories or anything other articles relevant to the team.  Click below for a sampling of press clips.

In the Reds Press Clips, you can see our three regular beat writers; Hal McCoy from the Dayton Daily News, John Fay from the Cincinnati Enquirer and Mark Sheldon from MLB.com.  You can also see a place for national news stories and league transactions.  The clips are something that comes in very handy for team officials and other writers when referencing Reds news.  Some days are busier than others, and with today’s off day, you could expect a very small set of clips for tomorrow.

Enjoy the off day reading, more to come this week.

Turf Day

Yesterday was Turf Day, the day the grow blanket was removed from the turf at Great American Ball Park.

By using a “grow blanket,” the temperature of the soil and grass is raised while under the blanket.  This fools the grass into thinking it’s later in the springtime.

The grow blanket was installed in mid-February and was on for about three weeks.

Now, I’ll let you enjoy the pictures.  I can’t believe how green the grass is.
