RHP Edinson Volquez today went on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his right elbow. He left last night’s game at St. Louis after the first inning with numbness in the pinky and ring fingers of his right hand. He was examined in Cincinnati today by Reds medical director Dr. Timothy Kremchek. Prior to last night’s game, Volquez was reinstated from the DL (back spasms) and made his first start since May 16. Volquez will be examined again in 7-10 days. He will not throw during that time. The Reds are expected to recall RHP Jared Burton from Class AAA Louisville. Burton was optioned to Louisville yesterday, when Volquez came off the DL.

Milwaukee, in pictures
I know that we would all like to forget the past weekend in Milwaukee, but here are a few memories and points of interest from my recent trip home to Dairyland.
Recent winner of the Indy 500 Helio Castroneves threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Friday night’s game. He was in town for a race at the historic Milwaukee Mile track.
This is Brewers director of media relations Mike Vassallo hard at work in his office before Sunday’s game. Before going to work for the Brewers, Mike served as assistant director of media relations for the Reds. He was my boss when I was in Milwaukee and made the move to Cincinnati happen for me. Also, you know that you’ve “made it” when your picture or bobblehead ends up on his desk or wall.
RHP Carlos Fisher and RHP Aaron Harang found some Reds fans in the sellout crowds of Milwaukee and signed a few autographs.
Reds Live host Jeff Piecoro is seen here breaking down your favorite ballpark food prior to Sunday’s game.
Fox Sports Ohio’s Chris Welsh and George Grande are seen here carefully preparing for Sunday’s broadcast from my seat in the booth.
