Today Reds RHP Aaron Harang presented the clubhouse staff with a 6-seat personalized golf cart for their exclusive use. Reds clubhouse and equipment manager Rick Stowe (front) and visiting clubhouse manager Mark Stowe (rear) already have ideas to enhance their new ride. They have already allocated a spot for their gift on the truck to Goodyear for use in Arizona this spring.

Hal McCoy Night
The Reds honored beat writer Hal McCoy of the Dayton Daily News, who is retiring following this season. McCoy has worked for the DDN for 46 years and is enshrined in the writers’ wing of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. He is the longest-tenured baseball beat writer in the country, the 2009 campaign is McCoy’s 37th covering the Reds.
Hal met with fans and signed autographs at the Reds Hall of Fame prior to tonight’s game.
Basketball announcer Dick Vitale stopped by to see Hal at the HOF.
Hal hosted friends and family in the Frontgate suite next the press box for tonight’s game.
Reds radio broadcaster Marty Brennaman hosted the on-field ceremony for McCoy and his wife Nadine.
Reds director of media relations Rob Butcher presented Hal with a framed letter from Commissioner Bud Selig that read in part:
“The universal respect you have earned from your peers, your readers and the people you have chronicled is remarkable. Your decorated career embodies the special bond that baseball writers share with their audience, and certainly, our game is better for it. Because you have served as a mentor to countless young members of the Baseball Writers Association of America who cover our national pasttime each day, I believe the professionalism and the excellence you brought to your craft will continue to have a lasting impact on the game we love.”
McCoy’s ceremonial first pitch to former Red and current Astro Aaron Boone. When asked if he would throw a splitter, McCoy replied, “no way, a cutter.”
A closer look at McCoy’s gifts from the Reds, Dayton Daily News and Major League Baseball.
Pictured here with McCoy are the last 5 Reds media relations directors. Current media relations director Rob Butcher, Joe Kelley, Jim Ferguson, Hal McCoy, Jon Braude and Mike Ringering.
And last, but not least… Reds commercial producer and editor Ian Stewart created this tribute video for Hal’s special night. Enjoy!

Tonight was the 2nd Bark in the Park of the 2009 season. Over 500 dogs were in attendance and participated in a pregame parade with their owners. Reds OF Jonny Gomes and IF Kevin “Bark”er couldn’t resist getting to know some four-legged fans.
Tonight’s Reds game and Metallica concert at the US Bank Arena caused some traffic issues in the downtown area.
If you’ve been to a Reds game at Great American Ball Park, this is someone you all know. Reds PA announcer Joe Zerhusen is seen here warming up the crowd for tonight matchup with the Astros.

Red hot walk-up music
Have you ever wondered what music Reds players enter the game or walk to the plate to? Look no further. Some of the players choose music and others have songs assigned to them by the Reds game entertainment staff. Here is the current list of players’ walk-up/enter the game music, as of 9/14/2009 (thanks to Reds media production manager Dave Storm for the list). As you can see, some players have more than one selection for multiple at-bats or to be rotated throughout the game. A player’s choice in music may remain the same for the entire season or change game-to-game. Enjoy! I can’t wait for the “Reds walk-up music” playlist on iTunes.
