Sunday in the South
Sunday morning batting practice in Atlanta. Today the Reds go for their first series sweep in Atlanta since July 2007. Also, I have a 7-game road winning streak (games I have worked on the road) on the line today.
The 1972 Brave of the Year Award went to current Reds manager Dusty Baker. Baker hit .321 with 17hr and 76rbi for the ’72 Braves. This plaque hangs in the Turner Field press box, as it was awarded by the local press.
Chick-fil-A is to Atlanta what Skyline Chili is to Cincinnati. Even the cow does the “tomahawk chop” during rallies. Unfortunately, I did not have time to get to The Varsity, I hear it’s pretty good.
In the first inning of last night’s game, a foul ball hit by Braves catcher Brian McCann hit the wall behind the first row of the press box. It hit two seats away from me and split between Reds director of media relations Rob Butcher and Hal McCoy of the Dayton Daily News.
