#42
Today, all Major League Baseball players, coaches and umpires will wear #42 in honor of Jackie Robinson’s 1947 debut in the big leagues. It’s fitting that the anniversary falls on April 15, Tax Day. Jackie certainly paid his dues so that baseball could be integrated. Below, the Reds are seen honoring Robinson’s historic feat.
Reds SS Alex Gonzalez and RHP Bronson Arroyo took some time to sign a Reds #42 jersey that will be auctioned off on MLB.com, with proceeds to benefit the Jackie Robinson Foundation.
In the words of Reds GM Walt Jocketty, “Number 42 is having a great day today.”
