Sarasota Memories
As the Reds pack up everything in Sarasota for the final time, many memories are becoming unearthed.
This is a cartoon from Cincinnati Post cartoonist Jeff Stahler. He used the cartoon as his credential request for spring training the year that the Reds signed Ken Griffey Jr.
The cartoon/credential request has been on the door of director of media relations Rob Butcher’s office in Sarasota since February 24, 2000, surviving beautifully despite the Florida humidity.
“Today I am packing my office for the transfer to Goodyear (AZ), and unfortunately this cartoon is probably the most memorable item that won’t make the trip,” said Butcher.
